Healing activities rooted in modern therapy & Jewish spirituality

Introducing L’dor Vador: Tools for living a more authentically joyful, Jewish life.

Being Jewish is a completely wonderful and unique way of life. It can also be scary, isolating, and confusing these days. Generational trauma, existential threats, and the general landscape of modern antisemitism has left many constantly anxious, angry, fearful, socially removed, and depressed.

It’s time for you to reclaim your power over your Jewish identity. You cannot allow antisemitism to define your Judaism. While we must address the trauma, fear, and grief that has gripped us all, we can be sure to engage positively with our heritage, too. Joy is the ultimate act of resistance.

So, without further ado, let’s get joyfully Jewish!

Supporting Jews through a dark time with joy, connection to our people, and therapeutically informed practice

I’m Jessica Cook

I’m a psychotherapist based out of Philadelphia, PA

As my career progressed, I noticed immense overlap between Judaism and therapy. Jews have been practicing therapy for millennia without the academic language! While I never pursued this concept professionally, I invested in my own Jewish identity in very intentional ways as a form of therapy.

After 10/7, it seemed many people felt like me- isolated, scared, angry…and they also felt the same ancient pull to get back in touch with our rituals, values, and teachings. Judaism is a love letter on our DNA from our ancestors. It’s passed l’dor vador (from generation to generation) to guide us through life. Along the way to us, it picked up resilience, trauma, wisdom, and other gifts and we have much to learn from each. The events on and since October 7th, 2023 inspired me to create this virtual space for people who, like me, have lost a lot and feel confused and unanchored in the face of globally rising antisemitism.

My goal as a Jewish therapist is to create a space for you to intentionally live in Jewish joy and build resilience while healing and doing “the work” to create the life you desire.

Whether you are religious, secular, or somewhere in between, these resources were intended to help you incorporate your Jewish identity into your life in a meaningful and practical way that works for you.
